Madison Avenue Monday: Bernat Worst(ed) Design

A Bernat crochet dress with embroidered flowers design from McCall's Needlework & Crafts:

Fall-Winter 1973-74
...I just keep shaking my head back and forth.  The look simply renders me speechless.

  1. Hysterical!

If you want to be shy retiring wall flower who doesn't draw attention to yourself, best not to put a crocheted tiffany lampshade over your work-wear. If you don't want to be considered a shy retiring wall flower, look as if you could hold a conversation.

Sometimes a love of vintage shows you it's better not to turn the clock back.

  2. I don't like the back ground color, and crochet dresses don't hold their shape well, but I would love to crochet just the flower part and attach it to a boring coat or something.

  3. Wow what a fabulous dress. I love crocheted dresses they're so pretty. I wouldn't pick those colors but I love the design!

  5. Ok, I'll admit that the flowers would look good on something else. But that's as far as I'll go!

  6. That is....something else! I think the flowers might be the least horrifying part.
